Lt. Gen. Jeffrey Talley, commanding general, U.S. Army Reserve Command, speaks with Spc. Andy Xoumphonphakdy during his visit with soldiers from the 993rd Transportation Company, located out of Lakeland and Palatka, Fla., that are currently serving in Kandahar, Afghanistan, April 26, 2013. The Army Reserve, founded in 1908 as a reserve corps of medical personnel, includes 148 different military occupation specialties and accounts for almost 20 percent of the Army’s total force.
