Summary
Lt. Gen. Thomas Bostick, commanding general and chief of engineers, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, toured the Detention Facility in Parwan June 6, 2012, to conduct a site visit of the DFIP and to determine current and future infrastructure requirements. The tour was guided by Lt. Gen. Keith M. Huber, commander, Combined Joint Interagency Task Force 435, and Col. Robert M. Taradash, commander, Task Force Protector. CJIATF 435 oversees all detainee operations in Afghanistan. Bostick serves as the senior military officer overseeing most civil works infrastructure and military construction in the U.S. USACE has a key role in support of overseas contingency operations, to include those in Afghanistan. In this photo, Bostick is guided through the detainee in-processing procedures at the DFIP. Excerpts from the Afghan Constitution pertaining to detained persons, as well as the Geneva Conventions Common Article 3, International Humanitarian Law, are read to each new arrival in the detainee’s own language.
