NORTHCOM Commander Visits Kearsarge

180919-N-WH681-0062 ATLANTIC OCEAN (Sept. 19, 2018) Air Force Gen. Terrence J. O'Shaughnessy, commander, United States Northern Command (USNORTHCOM), second from left, disembarks a MV-22 Osprey on the flight deck of the Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge (LHD 3), which is currently positioned off the coast of North Carolina as part of the Department of Defense-wide response to areas affected by Hurricane Florence. O'Shaughnessy will visit with the embarked Sailors and Marines, tour the ship, and meet with the leadership of Expeditionary Strike Group 2 and Amphibious Squadron 6. Under the direction of USNORTHCOM, Kearsarge, USS Arlington (LPD 24) and embarked elements of the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit were deployed ahead of the hurricane and followed it in to provide Defense Support of Civil Authorities (DSCA), if requested.
