Oregon vertical delivery operation
Summary
ILWACO, Wa. -- Coast Guard Petty Officer 1st Class Bradd Beckett, a 47-foot motor life boat coxswain from Station Cape Disappointment, relays a message to the station on marine band radio during a vertical delivery boarding on the Columbia River near Astoria, Ore., Dec. 7, 2010.
Coast Guard Station Cape Disappointment, situated at the mouth of the Columbia River, is the largest Coast Guard search and rescue station on the Northwest coast, with 57 crew members assigned and five search and rescue boats, all designed for operations in heavy surf.
