Summary
Over 70 years after he left the jungles of Burma and 16 years after his death, the widow of Army Sgt. Albert King received the medals he earned as a member of Merrill's Marauders, the 5307th Composite Group (Provisional). Dot King received his Purple Heart, Good Conduct and WWII Victory Medals as well as his Ranger tab in a small ceremony at the Holly Hill Baptist Church in Burlington, N.C., on June 26. The ceremony was conducted by the 81st Regional Support Command and attended by family and friends of the late war hero, who had previously received the Silver and Bronze Stars, American Defense Service and Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medals. Here, Mrs. King holds her husband's WWII Victory Medal.
