Sgt. 1st Class Juan Rodriguez, the noncommissioned officer in charge of the 135th Military Police Company, a National Guard unit from Chagrin Falls, Ohio, attempts to calm a group of people simulating injuries from a nuclear blast July 26 at the Muscatatuck Urban Training Center, Ind. The MP company is part of the Department of Defense’s Homeland Response Force team responsible for lifesaving and life-sustaining operations following a domestic chemical, biological, radiological or nuclear incident. The MP company is taking part in Vibrant Response 13, a major field exercise conducted by U.S. Northern Command and led by U.S. Army North.
