Summary

The South Carolina Army National Guard sent two teams to the Winston P. Wilson (WPW) Championship at Robinson Maneuver Training Center in North Little Rock, Arkansas, April 2019. The WPW Championship is an annual tournament that involves the rifle, pistol, machine gun, and combined arms disciplines. This year's competition consisted of 84 teams from the United Kingdom, Canada, Netherlands, and the National Guard for the 54 States and Territories. South Carolina's two teams consisted of the following Soldiers; Team A: Staff Sgt. Patrick Stuckey, 4-118th Combined Arms Battalion, team captain, Staff Sgt. Randall Gardner, Joint Force Headquarters, Staff Sgt. Matt David, 122nd Engineer Battalion, and Spc. Mack Williams, Joint Force Headquarters. Team B: Sgt. 1st Class Nick Kelley (1-118th Infantry Battalion, team captain), Staff Sgt. Wesley Linder, Joint Force Headquarters, Sgt. Reggie Boyd, Joint Force Headquarters, and Spc. Mackenzie Shealy, Joint Force Headquarters.

Team A earned the following awards: 1st Place for the George Patton Pistol match, 2nd Place in the Overall Pistol Team Aggregate Championship, 3rd Place in the Rapid Pistol Close Quarters Combat (CQB) and 3rd Place in the Anti-Body Armor. Gardner earned 2nd Place in the Novice Pistol Excellence in Competition (EIC), 3rd Place Novice Rapid Pistol CQB and an additional 10 EIC points toward his 30 points needed for his Distinguished Pistol Badge. Stuckey earned 2nd Place Open Anti-Body Armor and 3rd Place Overall Combat Pistol Aggregate and an additional 8 points toward his 30 points needed for his Distinguished Rifle Badge. Stuckey also earned his Chief's 50 badge in both Rifle and Pistol.

The Marksmanship Team is always looking for new Soldiers to participate in matches with them and it begins with the TAG Match each year. Please encourage your units and Soldiers to participate in the TAG Match and the German Armed Forces Badge for weapon proficiency, known as the Schützenschnur, which is hosted by the state command sergeant major each year.
