U.S. Army OH-58D Kiowa Warrior armed reconnaissance helicopter pilots assigned to the 1st Squadron, 17th Cavalry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, N.C., build a fire to stay warm on the Joint Readiness Training Center range at Fort Polk, La. during JRTC rotation 13-09, Aug. 19, 2013. The aircrews were conducting armed scout and attack missions on Fort Polk in support of the 82nd Airborne Division when they were shot down by a simulated missile and were 'out of play' and awaiting recovery.
