U.S. Marines Maj. Warren Leong, left, and Maj. Joseph L. White plan relief efforts April 29 before leaving here in support of the disaster relief for Nepal. U.S. Pacific Command sent a military Joint Humanitarian Assistance Survey Team of approximately 20 individuals to Nepal April 29 in support of the U.S. Agency for International Development's Office of U.S. Foreign Disaster Assistance's Disaster Assistance Response Team. The survey team, led by Marine Brig. Gen. Paul Kennedy, commander of 3rd Marine Expeditionary Brigade, will be assessing what unique capabilities the U.S. military can add to the relief efforts. The team left with such supplies as fresh water, fuel, tents and sleeping cots. Leong is a ground supply officer with 3rd Marine Expeditionary Brigade, III Marine Expeditionary Force from Seattle, Washington. White is the operations officer with 3rd MEB from Barstow, California.
