US Navy Lieutenant Eric Percival (left), USN Lieutenant Jeff Naven (center), and USN Lieutenant Junior Grade Budd Bergloff (right), assigned to Navy Fighter Squadron 31 (VF 31), Carrier Air Wing One Four (CVW 14), conduct mission planning in the close spaces aboard ship, inside the Carrier Intelligence Center (CVIC) on board the US Navy's nuclear powered aircraft carrier USS CARL CINSON (CVN 70). Planes assigned to CVW 14 launched from the flight deck of Vinson in support of Operation DESERT STRIKE. The operation was designed to allow tactical missions by US and other coalition aircraft inside the borders of Iraq, in response to repeated Iraqi attacks in violation of UN Safe Zones
