MAYPORT, Fla. - The officer in charge of a Coast Guard Law Enforcement Detachment describes for a Navy photographer Friday, Nov. 30, 2012, what the LEDET's role was during the seizure of 1.5 tons of cocaine and 1.8 tons of marijuana while embarked with the USS Carr in support of Operation Martillo. Operation Martillo, Spanish for Hammer, is an interagency mission that began in January 2012 to combat the spread of organized crime in Central America and the use of the Central American waterways and southern approaches to Mexico and the U.S. as routes to smuggle illicit drugs, weapons and cash.
