Kurdish children proudly show off some of their new founded American friends. Toys have been generously donated from numerous organization affiliated with military bases and civilian programs in Guam. Operation PACIFIC HAVEN represents a series of airlifts designed to provide sanctuary for some 2,400 refugees fleeing Iraq. Many are considered traitors by the Iraqi Government for working with the CIA-funded Iraqi National Congress and international humanitarian agencies. The Kurds will be housed at Anderson Air Force Base, Guam, while they go through the immigration process for residence in the United States

Kurdish children excitedly look through toys upon their arrival at Andersen Air Force Base, Guam, following an almost 17 hour flight from Turkey. The toys were provided for the children through donations by the Salvation Army Guam Corps, the American Red Cross, the Navy/Marine Corps Relief Society, various religious charities and military and civilian private donors. The objects in this collection are from The U.S. National Archives and Defense Visual Information Distribution Service.
