A Kurdish boy waits with his mother during immigration processing at Anderson Air Force Base, Guam, following an almost 17 hour flight from southern Turkey. Operation PACIFIC HAVEN represents a series of airlifts designed to provide sanctuary for some 2,700 refugees fleeing Iraq. Many are considered traitors by the Iraqi Government for working with the CIA-funded Iraqi National Congress and international humanitarian agencies. The Kurds will be housed at Andersen AFB, while they go through the immigration process for residence in the United States
