A replica of the P-40E Tomahawk used during WWII by the Flying Tigers, founders of the 14th Air Force, is mounted near the Command Post for the viewing pleasure of the public. On the plaque: "This aircraft is dedicated to all the Past, Present, and Future Flying Tigers, those who blazed a path of glory in the China Skies in World War II, and those who blaze a path of glory into space." A ceremonial event was held for the unveiling of the war fighter at the 30th Space Wing Headquarters at Vandenberg Air Force Base, California on April 17, 2001
