A contract welder from Los Angeles, California puts the finishing touches on the cross member that will support the wings of a replica P-40E Tomahawk, after it is placed on a display stand. The P-40E will be on display at the 14th Air Force Headquarters at Vandenberg Air Force Base, California. The P-40 "serves as, a monument, not to the aircraft but to the people of the original Flying Tigers, and as reminder to their modern-day counter-parts." The Warhawk memorial, funded by the 14th Air Force with Major General William R. Looney III in command, took three months from ground breaking to the dedication ceremony
