German soldiers in mock injuries are introduced by Lieutenant Colonel Ziegeltrum, commander of the German Air Force Rescue Center #1, prior to their participation in a mass casualty exercise at Dona Ana Range, Texas. The Germans were demonstrating their rescue techniques to members of the US Army's 396th Combat Support Hospital, Orogrande, New Mexico, during ROVING SANDS '97. ROVING SANDS is a multinational effort and is the largest military exercise on United States soil that allows training in a joint environment to hone command and control procedures and integrate new systems in Theater and Air Missile Defense
