In swirling winds, fog and pounding rains, Private First Class Thad Mills of the 297th Army Infantry Alaskan National Guard, Alpha Company, sets up concertina wire in order to provide dock security support for the USS OGDEN (LPD 5) while deployed to Ketchikan, Alaska, during Exercise NORTHERN EDGE 2001. Northern Edge is Alaska's premier joint training exercise and it lasts for two weeks. Over 10,000 Canadian and United States forces combine to practice protecting Alaska and it's borders
