US Navy (USN) Captain (CAPT) Peter D. Murphy, Executive Officer (XO), Amphibious Assault Ship USS TARAWA (LHA 1) and crew members stand at parade rest during a burial at sea ceremony. On this day three flag-draped caskets and the cremated remains of ten individuals were laid to rest in the Pacific Ocean. The Burial at Sea is a means of final disposition of remains, performed on US Navy vessels. Unfortunately, family members are not allowed to be present. Once the burial ceremony is completed, a ships representative will notify the families of the date, time, longitude and latitude
